Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Gas Fitter/Plumber – Installation Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on the installation, commissioning, and testing of residential and light commercial gas appliances, with an emphasis on furnaces, on-demand (tankless) water heaters, fireplaces, and related gas systems. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and test natural gas and propane appliances in accordance with applicable codes and manufacturer specifications.
- Install high-efficiency furnaces, tankless/on-demand water heaters, gas fireplaces, boilers, and other gas-fired equipment.
- Install and modify gas piping systems, regulators, venting, and combustion air systems.
- Perform pressure testing, leak detection, and system verification before commissioning.
- Ensure all installations comply with local building codes, gas codes, and safety regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, installation manuals, and technical drawings.
- Coordinate with customers, builders, and other trades to complete installations efficiently.
- Complete required documentation, inspection reports, and commissioning paperwork accurately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and make adjustments as required.
- Provide customers with operating instructions and basic maintenance information for newly installed equipment.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable working in crawl spaces, attics, rooftops, and confined spaces.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required.
- Capable of standing, kneeling, bending, and performing physically demanding work throughout the day.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-efficiency heating systems and condensing equipment.
- Sheet metal and ductwork installation experience is an asset.
- Hydronic heating experience is an asset.
- HVAC refrigeration certification is considered an asset.
- Experience with new construction and retrofit installations.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a focus on gas fitting, plumbing, HVAC systems, and schematics reading
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and construction machinery for installation and repair tasks
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting complex systems
- Experience with construction sites including heavy lifting, assembly work, carpentry skills, and working at heights when required
- Knowledge of safety standards related to gas fitting, plumbing codes, and building regulations
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to maintenance and troubleshooting challenges

Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
