About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 80-year-old woman living independently in northwest Mississauga (near Mavis Parkway and Derry Road). She is experiencing early onset dementia and requires daily support to maintain her quality of life and safety at home. She is mobile and handles her personal care independently, but needs assistance with cognitive support, medication management, and light daily tasks. She has been in Canada for over 40 years and is most comfortable communicating in English. The family is committed to finding a consistent, reliable caregiver who can build a trusting relationship with her.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily companionship and engage in meaningful conversation
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection to help her stay on track throughout the day
- Ensure she takes her daily medications with food as prescribed
- Prepare light meals by warming up pre-delivered food and sitting with her during meals
- Perform light tidying and housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe environment
- Monitor her overall well-being and communicate any concerns to the family
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with individuals with dementia or cognitive decline
- Calm, patient demeanor with the ability to provide gentle redirection
- Reliable and consistent—punctuality and dependability are essential
- Strong communication skills to keep the family informed
- Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing needs as they arise
- Brings positive energy and makes the client feel comfortable and respected
- Fluent in English
Schedule:
This is a 7-day-per-week position requiring 1 hour per day, totaling 7 hours per week. The family is seeking long-term, consistent care with the same caregiver to build familiarity and trust. This is a quarterly commitment, and the family values stability and routine for their loved one.
