Kingston School of Art is a nonprofit charitable organization founded in 1994 that provides multi-disciplinary arts education programming for all ages and stages. Our mission is to enhance the opportunities for the cultivation of art within our community through studio-based instruction, employment opportunities for arts educators, and community-based projects and partnerships.
We are seeking a Programming and Operations Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate activities that align with KSOA’s mission and goals. This is a unique opportunity to get involved with a long-established nonprofit agency and apply your organizational skills and creativity to bring some new projects to life.
As the Programming and Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
● Planning and administration of KSOA activities and groups, including studio classes and the KSOA Printmakers Collective
● Coordinating KSOA daily operations including but not limited to facilities access, budget management, scheduling, and communication
● Managing registration and reconciliations for individual activities and membership activities
● Evaluating activities and identifying opportunities for new programming and expansion
● Problem solving issues that arise with courses, registrations, communications, membership, and daily operations
● Liaising with Providence Village partner organizations and facilities management
● Coordinating accurate financial activities in cooperation with the KSOA Bookkeeper
● Meeting budget, engagement, and enrollment targets for KSOA activities and groups
● Ensuring health and safety, and implementing policies and procedures
● Creating a positive experience for community engagement with arts education programming
Required Qualifications:
● A post-secondary degree, diploma, or equivalent experience with focus in Business Management, Nonprofit Management, Administration, Program/Project Management, Education or similar
● 2+ years previous experience with program or project coordination/administration, including experience planning, implementing and evaluating a revenue-generating project or program, working with budgets, and meeting engagement targets
● Ability to setup, clean up, and organize programming facilities including lifting up to 30lbs
● Excellent digital skills, including experience creating and posting website and social media content and managing events in digital ticketing and/or revenue platforms (ex: Eventspace, Square, etc)
● Proficiency in Google Suite and Canva or demonstrated proficiency in similar software applications
● A high level of organization, time management, self-direction, problem solving and decision making; ability to be successful with little direct supervision
● Ability to manage daily operational issues, resolve complaints, and identify opportunities for growth and development
● Enthusiasm for the arts, nonprofit sector, and community programming
● Ability to work flexible hours when needed, including occasional evenings and weekends
● Provide a clear criminal record check (CPIC) including vulnerable sector
● Demonstrated respect for diverse and equity-seeking communities
● Current authorization to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with grant project implementation and reporting
● Working knowledge of accessibility standards, health and safety, and human resources rights and responsibilities
● Previous nonprofit experience and/or previous experience working with or on a volunteer Board of Directors
● Experience creating marketing and/or communication assets
● Knowledge of the local arts community; ability to develop community relationships
Hours and Salary: $25.00/hour, based on experience. 20 hours per week; exact hours of work to be determined between successful candidate and Board of Directors. This is a hybrid position at Kingston School of Art, located at Providence Village in Kingston, ON.
