Lead Estimator | ICI Construction
Location: Toronto, Ontario

Compensation: Up to CAD $150,000, depending on experience
A leading and well-established Canadian construction organization is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to support major ICI projects across the Greater Toronto Area.
This opportunity is ideal for a strong estimating professional with deep experience in institutional, commercial, industrial, and large-scale building construction. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading bid strategies, managing estimates, coordinating with internal teams, and supporting complex pre-construction activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Lead the full estimating process for ICI projects including hard bid, construction management, and design-build opportunities.
- Set up and manage cost estimates using estimating software and internal systems.
- Lead, mentor, and support junior estimators throughout the bid process.
- Prepare detailed reports and participate in executive bid review meetings.
- Review project schedules, construction methodology, production rates, and overall project risks.
- Contact subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Analyze, compare, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Identify cost discrepancies and resolve pricing gaps through proper review and analysis.
- Assemble accurate, timely, and well-organized bid submissions.
- Coordinate subcontractor quotes, flag risks, and support management in finalizing bid pricing.
- Assist with project handover to operations and project delivery teams after successful award.
- Maintain estimating databases including labour rates, material pricing, subcontractor pricing, and historical project costs.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating standards, bid quality, and overall estimating efficiency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, internal teams, and key project stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- 10+ years of construction experience, preferably within ICI construction.
- 5+ years of direct estimating experience on commercial, institutional, industrial, or large-scale building projects.
- Proven experience leading estimates and managing complex bid submissions.
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, tendering, budgeting, and subcontractor coordination.
- Experience with project management or field operations is considered an asset.
- Strong ability to develop and manage project budgets.
- Familiarity with estimating software and Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Good written and verbal English communication skills.
