Maintenance Services Manager

An established seniors' living community is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Services Manager to oversee building operations, maintenance programs, life safety systems, and environmental services. This is an existing vacancy.
This position provides leadership for all aspects of facility operations, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents, visitors, and team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for preventative maintenance, contractor oversight, regulatory compliance, departmental budgeting, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all facility maintenance and environmental services functions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventative maintenance programs.
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance projects, and capital improvement initiatives.
- Supervise maintenance personnel and external contractors.
- Ensure building systems, equipment, grounds, and common areas are maintained in accordance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of life safety, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and support systems.
- Oversee fire prevention programs, emergency preparedness activities, and life safety compliance.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and support annual budget planning.
- Maintain inventories, supplies, and equipment required for facility operations.
- Participate in quality improvement, infection prevention, and occupational health and safety initiatives.
- Provide coaching, training, scheduling, and performance management for departmental team members.
- Foster a service-focused culture that supports resident comfort, dignity, and well-being.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Building Operations, Skilled Trades, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.
- Demonstrated experience in facility maintenance, building operations, and repair services.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and life safety systems.
- Experience managing contractors, preventative maintenance programs, and facility projects.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with budgeting, resource planning, and cost control.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience within seniors' living, healthcare, hospitality, residential, or other regulated environments is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to service excellence and supporting the needs of older adults.
What Is Offered
