Overview
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic manufacturing team at Westcon Precast Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality metal components and assemblies through precise welding and fabrication techniques. Your expertise will contribute to the production of durable, reliable structures and equipment, supporting various construction, industrial, and manufacturing projects, as well as maintenance responsibilities. Duties
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication and welding processes.
- Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and Stick welding to join metals with precision and consistency.
- Use plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication machinery to shape and assemble metal parts.
- Conduct rigging operations for lifting and positioning heavy components safely using cranes or forklifts.
- Measure materials accurately with calipers, tape measures, and other measuring devices; perform basic math calculations for dimensions and tolerances.
- Fabricate ductwork, structural steel, or custom metal components according to project specifications.
- Read schematics and technical instructions to ensure proper assembly, welding, and fabrication procedures are followed accurately.
Requirements
- Proven experience in welding (MIG and Stick) with a strong understanding of welding symbols, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Mechanical knowledge of machinery such as press brakes, plasma cutters, cranes, forklifts, and machining tools.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings with confidence.
- Familiarity with rigging practices for lifting heavy materials safely using cranes or other lifting devices.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, calipers, and basic math skills for precise measurements.
- Construction or manufacturing experience involving structural fabrication is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of schematics related to mechanical systems or assembly instructions is a plus.
- Strong commitment to safety standards in a manufacturing or construction environment.
