Duties
- Safely operate commercial trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Transport freight efficiently from origin to destination, ensuring timely deliveries.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and load securement.
- Load and unload freight using equipment such as forklifts or other heavy machinery when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and warehouse staff to coordinate schedules and resolve issues promptly.
- Perform minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep the truck in optimal condition.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for long-haul driving.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, especially in long-distance transportation.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and other loading machinery safely.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols for secure load management.
- Familiarity with basic automotive repair techniques for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and compliance purposes.
- Physical ability to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road.
