Midtown Medical Centre is seeking a professional, organized, and patient-focused Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our busy family medical practice in Airdrie. Qualifications Required
- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant/Unit Clerk Certificate.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a medical clinic or healthcare setting.
- Proven working experience with Medaccess Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent computer and telephone etiquette.
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Register new patients and update patient demographic information.
- Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls and respond to inquiries.
- Manage physician schedules and appointment bookings.
- Operate and maintain the Med Access EMR system, including:
- Appointment scheduling.
- Scanning and uploading documents.
- Processing referrals and consultations.
- Managing incoming laboratory and diagnostic reports.
- Prepare and organize patient charts and medical records.
- Process specialist referrals and track referral status.
- Receive, sort, and distribute faxes, mail, and electronic communications.
- Coordinate with physicians, specialists, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare providers.
- Assist with billing administration and Alberta Health-related documentation.
- Maintain inventory and order office and medical supplies as required.
- Ensure examination rooms and reception areas remain organized and professional.
- Follow clinic policies, infection prevention procedures, and privacy legislation.
- Perform other administrative and clerical duties as assigned.
