Job Overview
Reporting to the Partners of DBK, the Senior Manager, Accounting and Assurance plays a key leadership role in managing client relationships, overseeing assurance and accounting engagements, and guiding team members to deliver high-quality professional services. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with professional standards, fostering a positive team culture, and contributing to the growth and success of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert industry and technical expertise in audit and assurance through client interactions, reports, technical work, management presentations and the creation of high-quality deliverables
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning related to client and practice management, as well as the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes.
- Manage a portfolio of clients while understanding their business, key risks and ways to deliver value added service; ensure clients needs are met and that relationships and accounts continue to grow and develop
- Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations and following up on progress
- Assist with annual & probation performance reviews; provide input to partners on team members development
- Accountable for engagement planning and scheduling as well as project financials
- 1st review on various types of files, tax returns, and CRA response/correspondence and provide feedback to the staff
- Lead engagement teams to complete complex audit, review and compilations; conducting planning meetings and reviewing the work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness
- Meet with clients to answer questions on draft financials, tax returns, planning items and provide strategic advice and insight
- Present financial statements at AGM meetings virtually or in person
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting, assurance, and auditing standards; identifying and address relevant issues
- Willing and able to travel as required
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required to support the firm
Qualifications and skills
- CPA designation
- 5 - 8 years of relevant experience
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting and assurance
- Excellent leadership, coaching and people management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills
- Passion for working with charities, not-for-profits, and small to mid-sized businesses
Pay: $95,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Hamilton, ON L9C 5N2
