POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for Class 1 Drivers for local deliveries (Lower Mainland) and long-haul routes, including regular cross-border runs into Western U.S., with strong customer service skills and a passion for the environment!
As a Delivery Truck Driver, you are accountable to ensure our customers receive the product they expect and on time. Working in partnership with the Warehouse team, you have excellent customer service skills and can help resolve issues as they arise. This is a physically demanding job.
Duties
- Inspect vehicle before and after each trip; perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs immediately.
- Load, secure, and unload produce carefully to prevent damage and maintain temperature control.
- Complete assigned routes safely and on schedule; communicate proactively with dispatch and warehouse teams about delays or issues.
- Verify and manage all paperwork at pickup/delivery points, including customs forms for U.S. runs. and handle perishable-goods clearance protocols
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with customers, border authorities, and partners.
- Participate in safety meetings; comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food handling, vehicle operation, and workplace safety.
- Monitor load conditions en route; check temperatures at intervals and report deviations.
Requirements
- Must have a valid Class 1 BC driver licence in good standing, with a clean driver's abstract.
- Legally eligible for cross-border travel to the U.S. (valid passport)
- Demonstrated ELD usage experience; full understanding of Canadian and U.S. Hours-of-Service regulations.
- Mechanical knowledge of trucks and their operations is preferred.
- Forklift certification or warehouse experience is an asset.
- Ability to move freight efficiently while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Strong communication skills to interact with clients, dispatchers, and team members effectively and handle unexpected events while on route.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and compliance in all driving activities.
- Able to demonstrate safe lifting practices of up to 50 lbs
- Prior long-haul experience, especially with perishable loads and border crossings, strongly preferred.
- Candidates must be comfortable driving in two-person teams for multi-day hauls
Compensation:
- Please note compensation is $0.70-0.80 per mile
- Expense reimbursements per company guidelines
