Our team at the First Nation Lands Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) is cutting edge, dedicated and experienced in assisting First Nations with developing workable solutions to the everyday challenges of community led lands and resources governance. We are currently seeking a motivated and qualified individual to fill the role of Manager Of Finance position within our organization.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration, the Manager of Finance provides support to senior management and the director on accounting matters and leads the full cycle reporting, maintaining and improving of processes and controls for day-to-day financial administration of the RC.
This may include the following:

Work with the Director, Finance & Administration to Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly and annual internal/external financial statements and reports.

Assist with the preparation of annual audited financial statements where required.

Support the Director, Finance & Administration with maintaining and updating financial policies, procedures and controls.

Support Director of Finance with special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis.

Answer inquiries and provide information to RC staff, LAB Directors and First Nations on RC financial policies and procedures related to travel and expenses.

Prepare or assist in preparing various financial or administrative reports for Senior Management and/or Government

Prepare or assist in federal funding tasks/applications to support organization and First Nations.

Prepare documentation as needed to assist the Director Finance and Administration with forecasting, annual budgets and to draft quarterly as well as annual financial and administrative reports.

Support the Director Finance and Administration and senior management with funding negotiations with Canada.

Manages the financial services support staff.

Any other related workload in keeping with the FNLMRC’s responsibilities in implementing the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for the position identified above, or for inclusion in the pool, please demonstrate how you meet the following essential criteria:

CPA designation or candidate – preferred (Qualified CPA (CA, CGA, CMA), with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline)

Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent.

Five (5) years of financial accounting experience
-
Three (3) years’ experience in working with First Nations preferred
-
Experience with financial data analysis, auditing, and financial statement preparation
-
Five (5) years of managing full cycle accounting/financial reporting for multiple entities
-
Two (2) years’ experience at a management level with supervisory experience (asset)
-
Experience working in nonprofit organizations preferred

Knowledge of federal transfer payment programs is preferred

- Due to the amount of work with First Nation communities, preference may be given to candidates with First Nations ancestry.
