Summary
As a member of the Development team, you will be part of an agile development team, building and working on internal projects. You will collaborate with a team of software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and desktop-based business applications.
Stack: React / Redux / Vite (Frontend) · Java / Vert.x / Guice / JDBI (Backend)
Database: Firebird SQL
This position is suited for intermediate-to-senior developers. Candidates should be able to work independently within their domain, contribute meaningfully to technical decisions, and support less experienced teammates where needed.
This stack deliberately favors lightweight, reactive Java frameworks. Candidates coming exclusively from a Spring background are unlikely to be a strong fit. Familiarity with Micronaut or Quarkus signals the right architectural mindset — even if Vert.x itself is new to you.
Responsibilities
- Code and test components as per design specifications
- Write unit test for various components
- Collaborate with Development Team and other cross functional teams to solve product and customer issues
- Successfully use design principles and knowledge of database architectures
- Design tools for systems to meet business needs
- Deliver technical visualization of proposed application architecture
- Contribute to best practice system and application design
- Designing, coding and testing programs and scripts from agreed specification
- Translate application storyboards, use cases and stories into functional applications
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
- Stay updated with new tools, frameworks, approaches, and architectures in the development world
Frontend Development
Core Requirements
- React — functional components and hooks, component lifecycle, performance patterns
- Redux & Redux Toolkit — state shape design, selectors, middleware patterns (Thunk/Saga)
- TypeScript — strong typing, generics, discriminated unions, type narrowing
- Vite — build configuration, plugin ecosystem, environment and asset handling
- Tailwind CSS — utility-first styling, responsive design, custom configuration
- REST API integration — async data-fetching patterns, error handling, loading states; React Query or SWR is a plus
- Testing — Jest and React Testing Library; unit and integration testing of components and hooks
Good to Have
- Experience consuming OpenAPI-generated TypeScript clients
- OAuth 2.0 / OIDC flows from the browser — PKCE, token storage, silent refresh
- Web performance profiling and optimization (Core Web Vitals, bundle analysis)
- Accessibility fundamentals (WCAG, ARIA)
Backend Development
Core Requirements
- Java 17+ — strong fundamentals: concurrency model, generics, streams, functional idioms, memory model
- Vert.x — event loop model, verticles, reactive/non-blocking I/O, the event bus, Vert.x Web
- Google Guice — dependency injection, modules, scopes, providers, assisted injection
- JDBI — SQL object API, fluent API, result set mapping, transaction management
- SQL — Firebird (hard requirement) — complex queries, joins, subqueries, window functions, indexing strategy, query planning; Firebird-specific knowledge (PSQL stored procedures, generators/sequences, multi-generational architecture, transaction isolation) is a strong differentiator
- Apache Kafka — producers/consumers, consumer groups, offset management, delivery semantics; Kafka Streams is a plus
- OpenAPI — spec-first or code-first workflows, contract validation, server/client code generation
- OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect — server-side: token validation, scopes, JWKS endpoint, token introspection
- OpenTelemetry — instrumentation, trace context propagation, metrics, structured log correlation
- Testing — JUnit 5, Mockito; integration testing patterns
Strong Assets
- Micronaut or Quarkus — reactive, AOT compilation, GraalVM native image mindset; these reflect the architectural values of this stack
- Containerization fundamentals — Docker, basic Kubernetes gRPC, Protobuf
AI Tooling & Prompt Engineering
Core Requirements
- Practical daily use of AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar) for code generation, review, debugging, and documentation
- Effective prompt construction — decomposing complex tasks, supplying relevant context, specifying constraints and output format
- Critical evaluation of AI output — knowing when to trust, verify, refactor, or push back on generated suggestions
Good to Have
- Experience with Claude specifically — Projects, extended context, system prompt design
- Familiarity with AI-assisted API design or spec generation
- Experience integrating AI APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) into production applications
