The Black Hole Bistro is seeking a talented and reliable individual to fill a full-time Tournant position working primarily mid-day to evening shifts Monday through Friday as well as the occasional weekend day, though may also need to work day and afternoon shifts Monday through Friday.
The Tournant is responsible for producing menu products that meet or exceed established Bistro standards and goals. They are versatile, providing support where is needed, and experienced with the regular day to day Front of House activities.
Applicants must be self-motivated and analytical individuals, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and refine new skills.
What you will do:
· Prepare and cook extensive variety of cuisine using skill, creativity and cost-effective methods
· Responsible for setup of station(s) and preparation of menu items as per specifications, ensuring station menus are accurate
· Ensure staff working at station understand how to prepare items to specifications
· Communicate levels of raw and prepared goods at station
· Oversee and train Dishwashers
· Work with Executive Chef to develop new menu ideas, recipes
· Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, breads, etc.
· Clean stations, kitchen, equipment and cooking utensils
· Practice safe food handling and preparation techniques
· All other related duties as required or requested
What you bring:
· Post-secondary culinary training and five years service industry experience
· Red Seal Certified is preferred
· Knowledge of current culinary trends and food presentation
· Attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions
· Good hand-eye coordination
· Ability to work as part of a team, and with minimal supervision
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· Knowledge of P.O.S. systems
· Willingness to learn and refine new skills

Compensation: The starting salary range for this position is $46,000 to $48,500, with opportunities for advancement and growth within the full base salary range as you progress in your role. Salary will increase over time based on performance, experience, and contributions to the organization.
