St. Lawrence Cruise Lines Inc. is seeking applicants for the position of Deckhand for a Kingston-based overnight cruise ship on 4, 5, 6 and 7 night voyages to Montreal, Ottawa and Quebec City. This is a great opportunity for someone looking at a potential career in the marine industry.
This position is Full time, Seasonal from May to October. It is suitable for persons over the age of 18 (including college and university students not returning for the fall semester). Paid training is provided. Marine experience is not essential, but any boating, outdoor work, or cleaning experience will be considered an asset.
Under supervision of the Chief Mate, the Deckhand is responsible for the following:
· Line Handling
· Provisioning
· Rigging debarkations
· Day and night security watch
· Ship cleaning
· General crew related duties
Work Periods:
· Full time, Seasonal (May-October)
· 10 hour days (on average)
· Alternating 4, 5, 6 and 7 night cruises on a "cruise-on, cruise-off" basis – equivalent to 40 hrs per week
Wages and Compensation:
· $20.75 per hour
· Participation in crew gratuity program
· Transportation to/from ports provided (with food allowance)
· Meals and accommodation provided while cruising
