Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Educational Assistant to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and families to foster a positive and supportive classroom experience. This role involves assisting with instructional activities, providing behavioral support, and helping students achieve their academic and social goals. Prior experience working with children with disabilities or in special education settings is required. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students while developing professional skills in education and child development.
Responsibilities
- Assist behaviour analyst and school team in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plan for 1-2 students.
- Support students during instructional activities, including reading, math, and other core subjects
- Provide behavioral support and reinforcement of positive behaviors
- Use effective communication strategies to facilitate student understanding and participation
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Support students with daily routines as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly
- Support classroom activities tailored to individual student needs
- Promote independence, problem-solving, social interaction and emotional development among students
Qualifications
- Prior classroom experience or background in teaching or early childhood education is preferred
- Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or in special education settings
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and families
- Understanding of behaviour analytic methodologies and early childhood development principles
- Compassionate attitude with patience and adaptability in supporting students’ unique needs
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
- Relevant certifications or training in special education or related fields are preferred

Pay: $17.95-$25.00 per hour
