Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist - Calgary, Chinook
We are growing our team of experienced vocationally focused, Rehabilitation Specialists! If you are passionate about improving health and assisting clients who have sustained traumatic brain injuries with vocational direction and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and clients, we need you.
This is an in-person role working out of our CBI Health Chinook Clinic located at 7015 MacLeod Trail SW, Calgary AB T2H 2K6.
Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
- Partner with clients to develop individualized, evidence-informed return-to-work plans following concussion and traumatic brain injury.
- Educate clients on the return-to-work process, funder expectations, best practices, and strategies for achieving a safe and sustainable return to work.
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team to identify functional abilities, limitations, and vocational recommendations that support successful work reintegration.
- Coordinate communication with employers, including scheduling meetings, providing education on their role in facilitating a successful return to work, and gathering feedback to inform ongoing planning.
- Liaise with WCB and other stakeholders to discuss return-to-work recommendations, address barriers, and obtain approvals as required.
- Monitor client progress throughout rehabilitation, updating return-to-work plans as functional abilities evolve.
- Identify and proactively problem-solve barriers to employment, advocating for clients and facilitating solutions that promote successful vocational outcomes.
- Conduct follow-up with clients after discharge to support long-term success and sustainability in the workplace.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and professional documentation that reflects client progress, clinical recommendations, and return-to-work planning.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment through regular case discussions, shared clinical decision-making, and a strong focus on client-centered care.
What you need to be successful
- You possess an Undergraduate or master’s degree. Kinesiology, psychology and related health fields are an asset.
- Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation and/or the disability insurance industry is an asset.
- Knowledge of goal directed; solution focused behaviour change interventions is an asset
- You have strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong therapeutic relationships.
- You excel in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
- You possess, comprehensive assessment and report writing skills are required.
