Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver - Class 1 to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. This role offers an opportunity to work with a dedicated team in a dynamic environment, utilizing a range of skills including heavy equipment operation and automotive repair.
Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs.
- Perform basic automotive repairs and troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operational readiness.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules and issues.
- Assist with the operation of heavy equipment when required, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols are followed.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Proven experience in commercial driving, freight transportation, or related fields.
- Knowledge of forklift operation, heavy equipment handling, and automotive repair is preferred.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
- Physical capability to load/unload freight, lift heavy objects, and perform routine vehicle inspections.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
