The Club
The City of Vernon is nestled in the North Okanagan and surrounded by mountains, lakes, orchards, and vineyards. Vernon is a vibrant community with full amenities, great golf, world class skiing, and is a playground for tourists and locals year-round. The Vernon Golf and Country Club has deep roots in the community and has been in operation since 1913. We are a non-profit club which means all profits go back into the club, towards capital projects, improvements, and equipment. We are a bustling, semi-private golf club with 675 members and a current waitlist of 100. It is an exciting time for the club as we have seen major improvements to the clubhouse and the grounds over the past 2 years.
The Opportunity

This hands-on leadership role combines floor supervision with strong bartending expertise. As a key leader within our Food & Beverage team, you will act as an ambassador of the Club, ensuring every member and guest receives attentive, professional, and engaging service while supporting daily operations and mentoring staff.
Please note that this is a seasonal role with full time hours from March 1-October 31. We will have hours available up to 30 Hours per week November1-December 31. January and February would be off.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Service
- Provide consistently professional, friendly, and engaging service
- Lead and support the Food & Beverage team, ensuring service standards are upheld
- Actively supervise service operations during shifts
- Address member and guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training service staff
- Support scheduling and balance operational, administrative, and staffing needs
- Drive revenue by communicating and implementing promotions and service strategies
- Maintain full knowledge of all menus, beverage offerings, and features
- Ensure compliance with all restaurant policies, procedures, and service standards
- Follow all safety and sanitation regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Food & Beverage Manager
Bartender Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes
- Create a welcoming and engaging bar atmosphere for members and guests
- Verify identification and ensure responsible alcohol service in accordance with provincial regulations
- Maintain full knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and cocktail offerings
- Make recommendations and upsell premium products and features
- Monitor guest consumption and maintain a safe environment
- Handle cash, process POS transactions, and complete end-of-shift cash reconciliations
- Maintain bar cleanliness, organization, and stock levels
- Complete daily bar prep, restocking, and inventory counts
- Assist with ordering and tracking beverage inventory
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of all bar products
What You Bring
- Previous Food & Beverage leadership experience (required)
- Strong bartending experience (required)
- Valid Serving It Right certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Professional, dependable, and highly responsible
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift 40lbs

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
