Role Description
This part-time on-site role is based at Canada Benson Academy's Markham campus. As a Math Competition Coach, you will be responsible for developing and delivering specialized training programs to prepare students for math competitions. Key tasks include creating tailored curricula, providing guidance, mentoring students, and fostering confidence in their mathematical abilities through engaging lessons and problem-solving exercises. You will also collaborate with other educators to ensure that students are prepared to achieve their best results in competitive events.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver mathematics competition training sessions for high school students.
- Teach advanced problem-solving strategies in algebra, geometry, combinatorics, number theory, and other contest-related topics.
- Develop practice materials, mock contests, and homework assignments.
- Track student progress and provide individualized feedback.
- Help students prepare for contests such as Waterloo Mathematics Contests (Pascal, Cayley, Fermat, Euclid, CSMC), AMC (American Mathematics Competitions), or other regional and international mathematics competitions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and expertise in Mathematics, with the ability to solve advanced problems and foster critical thinking.
- Experience and skills in Coaching and mentoring students for math competitions or similar activities.
- Familiarity with Waterloo, AMC, AIME, or similar contest formats.
- Excellent communication and teaching skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage high-achieving students.
- Previous competition achievements are considered a strong asset.
Pay: From $50.00 per hour
