Smart Home Technician – AV Works Inc. (St. Albert, AB)
AV Works Inc., a respected Smart Home Installation company based in St. Albert, is looking for an experienced, friendly, and customer-focused Installation Technician to join our growing team. We service residential and commercial construction projects across the Edmonton and surrounding region. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT AN EVENTS A/V POSITION.
Position Overview
As an Installation Technician, you’ll be responsible for installing and maintaining AV systems across new construction and retrofit environments in residential as well as commercial homes and businesses. Typical work includes:
- Programming Control4 systems, configuring OVRC, and setting up networks/VLANs
- Pulling cable, terminating, and building equipment racks
- Installing TVs, projectors, cameras, speakers, microphones
- Home theatres, security systems, Control4 automation, VTC systems
- Wired/wireless networks, control platforms, and related infrastructure
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of professional Smart Home technical installation experience (NOT AV EVENT TECH)
- Proven experience programming Control4, deploying OVRC, and configuring networks/VLANs
- Experience working on construction sites from rough‑in to final
- Ability to read plans/blueprints and work independently
- Strong field service and troubleshooting background
- Installing Golf Sims would be considered an asset

- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to measure, drill, pull wire, and mount devices safely and accurately
- Professional, organized, punctual, and detail‑oriented
- Competent with computers, mobile apps, and reporting tools
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge of Control4, security, IT, and smart home systems
- Comfortable with both residential and commercial installations
- Valid driver’s license and clean Drivers Abstract
- Provide own tools and pass a Criminal Background Check
- Live within 25 km of Edmonton and be familiar with the surrounding area
- Physically able to perform labor-intensive work
- CSTS training and First Aid an asset (not required)
- Working knowledge of D-Tools Cloud would be considered an asset

- Full-time | Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
