Job description:
We are seeking for a compassionate and dedicated Relief/Back Up Community Support Workers to provide one on one active supervision and support and care for a male client with Autism.
This role is looking for a Support Worker that has the ability to maintain calmness under pressure, has high level of awareness for client safety and ability to set boundaries and be consistent with following the behavioral support and safety plan.
The ideal candidate is highly patient, resilient and has experience with behavioral management and de-escalation strategies.
The client likes to go on walks, is active in advocacy groups and community events and going out in the community to build life skills.
Location:
- Quesnel (near South Quesnel Park)
Shifts:
- Relief/Back Up Shifts
- Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm
- Able to cover sick calls and vacation coverage
Duties
- One on one active supervision with daily living activities - continuous monitoring
- Behavioural support integration during community based outings and recreational activities
- Administer medication following prescribed schedules and safety protocols
- Use effective communication for coaching on social skills and boundary setting
- Proactive support and assistance with task oriented activities
- Implement behavioural support and safety plan and assess risks and warning signs
- Monitor and document client's status, behaviors, and progress accurately
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote overall well-being
Qualifications:
- CPI, Mandt, or equivalent (preferred)
- First aid (required)
- Criminal Record Check clearance (required)
- Certificate or diploma as an EA, CSW or in Social Services (preferred)
- Experience following a behavioural support / safety plan (required)
- Experience with behavioural management and de-escalation strategies (required)
- Experience in one on one settings (required)
- Driver's License and personal vehicle - for ease of commute (required)
