Job Summary
Gitanes is seeking an experienced and hospitality-driven Server to join our team. Located in the heart of Ottawa, Gitanes is a French-inspired restaurant known for warm, attentive service, an exceptional wine program, and a menu that celebrates seasonal ingredients and classic techniques.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, wine, and creating memorable guest experiences. The ideal candidate is confident in a fast-paced fine dining environment, thrives as part of a team, and takes pride in delivering genuine hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, knowledgeable, and professional service throughout the guest experience
- Guide guests through food, wine, and cocktail selections
- Maintain a thorough understanding of menu items, ingredients, and daily features
- Work closely with kitchen and bar teams to ensure seamless service
- Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns with professionalism and care
- Assist with opening, closing, and general dining room duties
- Uphold Gitanes' standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and service
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of serving experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment
- Strong food, wine, and beverage knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and remain composed under pressure
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality
- Evening and weekend availability required
- Smart Serve certification (or willingness to obtain)
