Course Ambassador Staff (outside services) (Starter/Marshal)
Job Summary
The Starter/Marshal at Shadow Mountain is responsible for ensuring a smooth and enjoyable golfing experience for all players. This includes greeting players, managing tee times, maintaining pace of play, and providing exceptional customer service. The Starter/Marshal will serve as a key point of contact for golfers, ensuring they adhere to course rules, safety guidelines, and etiquette while maintaining a friendly and professional environment.
Responsibilities:
- Tee Time Management:
- Greet players and check in guests upon arrival at the golf course.
- Confirm and enforce tee time schedules, ensuring that groups are sent off in a timely and organized manner.
- Provide golfers with necessary information about course conditions, rules, and any special events.
- Pace of Play:
- Monitor groups on the course to ensure they are maintaining the appropriate pace of play.
- Remind players of course etiquette and policies as needed to promote an efficient and enjoyable experience for all golfers.
- Handle any player issues related to slow play or other concerns in a professional manner.
- Course Monitoring:
- Drive around the course to ensure players are following the rules, such as maintaining proper pace, repairing ball marks, and adhering to dress codes.
- Respond to player requests and concerns, addressing any issues that arise promptly and effectively.
- Assist with managing on-course safety by ensuring players follow safety protocols and regulations.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting golfers with any questions or concerns, ensuring they have a positive experience on the course.
- Be approachable and friendly, serving as a liaison between players and golf course management.
- Operational Support:
- Assist with managing course traffic, including guiding groups, managing wait times, and handling Guest Services duties when necessary.
- Help maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the golf course, ensuring all facilities are well-kept and welcoming.
- Support other staff with events or tournaments when needed.
Qualifications/Assets:
- Previous experience in a customer service or golf-related role preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of golf course operations, rules, and etiquette is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to walk the course and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable with using golf carts and other equipment as needed.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and a team player.
- Friendly, approachable, and able to engage with a diverse group of people.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the course for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions (sun, rain, etc.).
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds (e.g., equipment or supplies).
Work Schedule:
- The position may require early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Flexible hours based on course needs and seasonal demand.
