Currently recruiting for a Senior General Litigation Assistant with 5+ years experience for a large downtown firm in Edmonton, must be an independent worker, forward thinker, extremely organized, can adjust to a constant busy practice, paying top dollar for the right candidate.
Duties
- Prepare, proofread, and review legal documents, correspondence, and filings with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct comprehensive research using LexisNexis and other legal research platforms to support case strategies.
- Manage case files and documents using iManage or similar document management systems, ensuring proper filing, indexing, and retrieval.
- Assist attorneys with project management tasks related to ongoing litigation, including tracking deadlines and court filings.
- Conduct interviews with clients, witnesses, or experts as needed to gather relevant information for cases.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of case activities, correspondence, and legal documentation.
- Coordinate with courts, clients, and external agencies to facilitate filings and communication.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling phone inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
- Support the preparation of pleadings, discovery requests, and other legal drafting tasks aligned with case requirements.
Experience
- Proven experience in a clerical or administrative role within a legal setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Demonstrated proficiency in proofreading, legal research and legal document drafting.
- Familiarity with project management tools and document management systems such as iManage or similar platforms.
- Excellent writing skills coupled with attention to detail for preparing accurate legal documents.
- Experience conducting interviews or client interactions is a plus.
- Knowledge of data entry procedures, filing systems, and clerical best practices in a law firm environment.
- Exceptional phone etiquette and professional communication skills are essential for success in this role.
