We are conducting a confidential search on behalf of a company based in the Niagara / St. Catharines area. The organization is well regarded and known for high standards.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a hands-on, owner-operated environment. We are seeking someone who takes genuine ownership of the accounting responsibilities and who will operate with precision and independence to become a trusted financial partner to senior leadership.
What You'll Do
- Full-cycle bookkeeping duties including accounts receivable, accruals, cash management and collections
- Month-end close duties including posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded
- Maintain and update the general ledger and trial balance
- Monthly bank and tax reconciliations
- Fixed asset tracking and intercompany account management
- Update and maintain financial data across multiple software systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility
- Support interim and year-end audit processes in collaboration with external auditors
- Participation in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Process improvement support and cross-functional collaboration with operations and leadership teams
What You Bring
- 3 to 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in a hands-on, full-cycle role
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting or Business; CPA designation or progress toward designation is an asset
- Strong Excel and ERP skills
- Working knowledge of accounting software — Sage and/or QuickBooks preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Familiarity with retail, hospitality POS systems
- Detail-oriented, organized, and consistently deadline-driven
- Experience in an operational environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mindset
- A collaborative communicator who builds trust quickly with colleagues and senior leadership
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the accounting function with minimal oversight
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12 to 18 months, you will have established yourself as part of the financial backbone of the organization — delivering accurate, timely reporting; strengthening internal controls; and becoming a trusted partner to the leadership team.
