We are currently seeking a respite provider in the area to provide support in their own home for 2 weekends a month. This is the ideal opportunity for someone with space in their home and the desire to make a difference in the life of a person with a disability.
We are currently seeking a Home Respite Provider for a young woman who resides in Penhold with her parents. We are looking for individuals or couples who either have no children, or have older children, and like to do a variety of recreational activities both indoors and outdoors to keep busy. Respite providers will provide guidance in daily life skill development like cooking, nutrition, cleaning, budgeting, bus training on transit routes, social skill development, decision making, following current plans in place and teaching personal safety skills. You must have the ability to be a positive role model, follow behavior support plans and strategies in place, and provide 24-hour care in a safe and positive environment.

Operating as a non-profit society since 1977, Etana (formerly Central Alberta Residence Society) provides support services to adults with developmental disabilities. We work with individuals in the city of Red Deer and surrounding area, with our office located in Red Deer. Etana continues to grow with respect to the number of individuals supported and personnel and are adaptive with our services to meet the needs of each individual who is served.
You will complete your duties ensuring that services provided are of the maximum possible benefit to the individual(s) and that services are operated in accordance with standards as set out by Etana, Disability Services, and C.A.R.F. Accreditation Standards.
Entry Requirements
· High School Diploma, or Mature Status
· Suitable home (pass inspection)
· Class 5 drivers license, reliable vehicle, valid insurance
· Experience in Human Services field
· Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
Required Training (Some of this training is available through Etana)
· First Aid and CPR, Level C
· Abuse Protocol/Protection of Persons in Care Act
· SIVA (Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments)
· Medication Administration
· Food Safe
