The Opportunity
SunMETA Group is currently seeking to fill the permanent role of a Senior Marketing Writer in Calgary, Alberta, to create and refine marketing-driven written content including blogs, marketing emails, website copy, and other business writing needs. This is a hands-on, marketing-focused writing role.
You’ll need to think like a marketer – writing with clear goals in mind, understanding audience psychology, adapting tone and structure based on the customer journey, and tying every piece of content to a marketing objective.
You’ll also play a key role in reviewing and editing work from junior writers — providing feedback to strengthen clarity, brand voice, and marketing effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and edit blogs targeting different marketing funnel stages
- Write short-form scripts, marketing emails, website copy, and other business content
- Adapt writing one and structure based on audience needs and business goals
- Edit and refine content created by junior writers — improving structure, grammar, voice, and effectiveness.
- Ensure all content is clear, consistent, goal-driven, and on-brand.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Director to meet project timelines and quality standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field is required
- 3-5 years of professional marketing writing and/or editing experience
- Strong understanding of audience psychology, marketing funnels, and customer journeys
- Excellent English writing and editing skills with a sharp eye for clarity, tone, accuracy, structure, and brand alignment
- Experience editing and giving feedback to other writers
- Highly organized, self-directed, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple writing projects independently
- Knowledge of SEO and keyword integration
- Experience writing for education, career development, or training-related audiences
- Comfortable switching between short-form and long-form content.
