We are searching for a Journeyperson Refrigeration Technician to join our thriving Edmonton Team.
Job Summary:
As a Journeyperson Refrigeration Technician , you will be installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. You ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Canadian codes, environmental regulations, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and heat pump systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults using testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Install and service compressors, condensers, evaporators, piping, valves, thermostats, and control systems.
- Perform leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and system commissioning.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
- Replace defective components, motors, compressors, and electrical controls.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders.
- Ensure compliance with provincial safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs, maintenance recommendations, and equipment performance.
- Participate in on-call emergency service and after-hours work as required.
- Mentor apprentices and provide technical guidance when needed.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Certification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (or provincial equivalent).
- Valid Refrigerant Handling Certificate (where required).
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and refrigeration diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC, refrigeration systems, and building automation controls.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Stand, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Availability for overtime and emergency call-outs when required.
