Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating beautifully decorated pastries, cakes, and baked goods that delight our customers. This role requires a strong foundation in food preparation, baking, and cake decorating, with a focus on delivering high-quality desserts in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the food industry, particularly in restaurant settings, is preferred. The Pastry Chef will play a key role in maintaining food safety standards and ensuring all products meet our quality expectations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Decorate cakes and pastries with artistic designs, including piping, fondant work, and other decorating techniques
- Ensure all baked goods are prepared in accordance with food safety and handling regulations
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as mixing, portioning, and packaging baked items for sale or service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station and kitchen area
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely production and delivery of desserts for events or daily service
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies; communicate needs to management
- Uphold excellent customer service by providing knowledgeable assistance about pastry offerings when needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in cake decorating, baking, or pastry arts; restaurant experience is highly desirable
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and food handling techniques
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper kitchen sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience with packaging baked goods for retail or catering purposes is a plus
- Creative flair for cake decorating and dessert presentation
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Prior experience working within the food industry or bakery setting is preferred
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
