Quesnel Youth Soccer Association (QYSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality soccer programs for players of all ages and abilities. Our mission is to develop players, coaches, referees, and volunteers while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that promotes a lifelong love of soccer.
Position Summary
QYSA is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and experienced Technical Director & Facility Operations Manager to lead the club's technical development and oversee the daily operation of our indoor soccer facility. This leadership position combines soccer expertise with organizational management, facility operations, community engagement, and strategic planning.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors, coaches, volunteers, referees, community partners, and families to ensure the continued growth and success of soccer in Quesnel.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
· Develop and implement the club's Technical Development Plan aligned with Canada Soccer's Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model.
· Oversee all recreational, development, representative, futsal, and high-performance programs.
· Design seasonal training curriculums and player development pathways.
· Lead player identification and evaluation processes.
· Support team selection and technical standards across all age groups.
· Monitor program quality and recommend continuous improvements.
Coach and Referee Development
· Recruit, mentor, and support volunteer and paid coaches.
· Deliver coach education workshops and technical mentoring.
· Promote Canada Soccer coaching certification pathways.
· Work with the Referee Coordinator to recruit, develop, and retain match officials.
· Promote Respect in Sport and Safe Sport principles throughout the club.
Club Operations
· Coordinate seasonal programming, leagues, camps, clinics, tournaments, and special events.
· Assist with scheduling fields, practices, and games.
· Maintain technical equipment and club inventory.
· Prepare technical reports and recommendations for the Board of Directors.
· Assist in annual planning, budgeting, and policy development.
· Ensure compliance with BC Soccer, Canada Soccer, and Safe Sport standards.
Facility Operations and Management
· Oversee the daily operation of the QYSA indoor soccer facility.
· Coordinate facility rentals and maximize facility utilization.
· Ensure the building is clean, safe, secure, and well maintained.
· Conduct regular inspections and identify maintenance needs.
· Coordinate repairs and maintenance with contractors and service providers.
· Manage alarms, security systems, building access, and key control.
· Monitor lighting, heating, ventilation, and building systems.
· Oversee field maintenance, equipment storage, and facility inventory.
· Develop facility operating procedures and maintenance schedules.
· Assist with facility budgets and long-term capital improvement planning.
· Ensure compliance with safety regulations and risk management practices.
Community Engagement
· Build strong relationships with schools, local organizations, municipalities, Indigenous communities, sponsors, and community partners.
· Promote soccer participation throughout the Quesnel area.
· Represent QYSA at community events and regional meetings.
· Support sponsorship, fundraising, and grant opportunities.
· Develop partnerships that strengthen club programs and facility usage.
Leadership and Administration
· Provide leadership and direction to staff, coaches, volunteers, and contractors.
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful club culture.
· Prepare monthly operational and technical reports for the Board.
· Assist with strategic planning and organizational development.
· Maintain accurate records, policies, and operational documentation.
· Support volunteer recruitment, orientation, and recognition.
Qualifications Required
· Canada Soccer National B Licence (or higher), or equivalent experience.
· Minimum three years of leadership experience in soccer administration or technical management.
· Strong knowledge of Long-Term Player Development principles.
· Experience mentoring coaches and managing soccer programs.
· Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
· Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
· Respect in Sport Activity Leader certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred
· Learning Facilitator certification.
· Experience managing sports facilities or recreation centres.
· Experience with budgeting, grants, sponsorships, and event management.
· Knowledge of facility maintenance and operational planning.
