Winpak Division is looking for a Receiving Supervisor to join their team based out of Winnipeg, MB.
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Receiving Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of Receiving operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company policies, quality standards, and operational goals. This role plays a key part in supporting employee performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining strong operational and safety standards within the warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Inventory Management
- Oversee daily Receiving operations, ensuring inbound materials are received, inspected, and processed accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor warehouse material flow, space utilization, and inventory discrepancies while partnering with Purchasing, Production Control, and Accounts Payable to resolve issues.
- Ensure departmental SOPs, quality standards, trailer inspections, forklift inspections, and material verification processes are consistently followed.
- Support department planning by reviewing schedules, monitoring KPIs, and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and workflow.
Leadership, Safety & Compliance
- Lead and support a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety talks, workplace inspections, incident investigations, and employee huddles focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Supervise, coach, and support employees through training, performance management, cross-training, and employee development initiatives.
- Administer company policies and collective agreement provisions, including attendance management, payroll approvals, and disciplinary processes as required.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Partner with internal departments and external stakeholders to address Receiving-related concerns, quality issues, and customer requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing operational best practices.
- Oversee forklift training and equipment maintenance processes to ensure compliance, reliability, and operational readiness.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and effective communication across the department and throughout the organization while supporting ISO, SQF, and quality management standards.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Receiving, Warehouse, Distribution, or Logistics environment.
- 2+ years of experience in formal or informal leadership role
- Experience overseeing inventory control, material flow, and receiving operations.
- Experience supporting workplace health and safety programs, incident investigations, and compliance initiatives.
- Strong leadership, communication, and employee coaching skills with the ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience using ERP, warehouse, or inventory management systems.
- Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies and KPI-driven operations.
- Familiarity with ISO, SQF, or other quality management systems.
- Previous experience with Movex or similar warehouse/production management systems.
- CITT designation or willingness to pursue additional supply chain or logistics-related training.
