Our Vancouver medical clinic is looking for a part time Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join us. We are looking for someone who is available 1-2 days a week. Is this you? We’d love to connect!
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist you will be responsible for greeting patients through to the preparation of specimens for transportation.
This role is suitable for a reliable individual with strong communication and phlebotomy skills. This is a good opportunity for someone who wants supplemental income and has a regular schedule or for someone who is looking for casual work.
In this role you will:
· Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed the necessary test protocol prior to the specimen collection.
· Perform phlebotomies and complete related documentation.
· Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results.
· Clean and document collection workspace at the end of each shift
· Check and record the temperature daily of both the room temperature and the fridge
· Prepare specimens for transportation
· Assist with Quality Management, participate in lab equipment and supply evaluations
· Participate in lab safety checks
The right person for this role will be focused on patient service, and be able to relate well to patients. Some key qualities include: empathy, flexibility, adaptability to change, and problem solving skills.
Requirements
· Completion of a recognized Canadian Medical Laboratory Assistant program
· Proficient data entry skills and attention to detail
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
