Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Technician, the Facilities Maintenance Assistant supports the day to day operation of St. Michael's Homes through the execution of routine facility inspections, repairs, and building maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates and/or performs cleaning, refuse removal, and room setup
- Helps with preventative maintenance and minor repairs on facilities including general repairs such as plastering, painting, flooring, repairs to windows and doors
- Handling and transporting materials around the site and between sites
- Following instructions from supervisors to perform manual labour tasks
- Assisting skilled labourers on site
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
- Awareness and appreciation of client needs specific to the substance use, substance dependency and mental health field
- One (1) year of direct work experience in facilities maintenance or construction
- First Aid, CPR, WHMIS and/or other certificates are considered assets
- Driver’s License with clean abstract
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of the day.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs / 23 kg
