Role Summary:
The Warehouse Operations Support Specialist plays a hands-on role in improving how warehouse operations use WMS tools, processes, documentation, and training. Working with the Operations Development Manager and cross-functional teams, this role helps review current processes, test system changes, support users, and turn business requirements into practical warehouse workflows across J.D. Smith facilities.
The hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with warehouse teams, learning how systems support day-to-day operations, solving process issues, and helping users adopt new or improved ways of working.
- Participate in the design, configuration, testing, and training of new software applications and WMS functionality.
- Test new or changed system functionality in a sandbox environment before deployment.
- Review existing client processes and identify how they should be adapted into WMS and operational workflows.
- Develop clear written procedures for WMS and operational tasks, including administrative, RF, and process-based activities.
- Provide and coordinate WMS training for new and existing users, including training related to process changes.
- Provide primary solution support to CSRs, supervisors, and managers as required.
- Stay current on WMS changes and enhancements and communicate relevant updates to operations staff.
- Support projects such as new warehouse account start-ups, packaging projects, transitions from other 3PLs, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education or a college degree is considered an asset.
- Three to five years of related experience in 3PL operations, warehouse administration, WMS support, or a similar environment is preferred.
- Experience with WMS administration, warehouse processes, user support, process documentation, training, or software testing is an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including experience using WMS, Microsoft Office, and related business applications.
- Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Able to work independently, manage priorities, and provide clear directions to others with confidence.
Work Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different facilities or off-site locations as required.
- Must be flexible with work schedules and adjust as required; some overtime may be required from time to time.
- Must be willing to work in a warehouse environment as required.
