Job Overview
Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Child and Family Services Society is a Delegated First Nation Agency following the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (Alberta) and are quickly moving towards implementing Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation’s own Child and Family Law: Namês Sâkahikan Sitoskatowin.
Role description and skills:
- Provide diversified assessment and case management services to children and families in need.
- Priority will include being proactive in supporting preventative-focused intervention programming for families in need and protection of children at risk.
- This position will receive reports and examine the information and, in consultation with the Supervisor, determine if there is a need for intake/assessment/investigation, etc.
- This position will provide case planning and management to support in meeting the child (ren) unmet needs; seek to resolve issues in the best interests of the child; protect the child from harmful situations and work to keep the family unit intact, if possible.
- A team player who will work closely within the community and in conjunction with other local programs to ensure the range of services is effectively coordinated to meet the needs of families.
- Dedicated to the safety and wellbeing of children, families and their community.
- Required to be on rotation for the On-call/Intake schedule.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to applicants who have a Social Work Diploma.
- Preference will be given to applicants with Child Intervention Practitioner Training (formerly known as Delegation Training).
- Applicants who have a minimum high school diploma with some post-secondary and some experience in social services will be considered.
- Training can/will be provided for the successful candidate, if required.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to client care.
- Experience working within Indigenous communities.
- A clear Criminal/Vulnerable Records Check and Intervention Records Check.
- A valid Driver’s License.
- A current Driver's Abstract.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
