Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to join our engineering team in Mississauga. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, documenting, and validating custom electrical and automated test systems used in manufacturing and production environments.
This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in electrical design, PCB interfaces, automation systems, and technical documentation who enjoys working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical & Automation System Design
- Analyze customer requirements and develop effective test solutions
- Design electrical and electronic systems, including circuits, instrumentation, pneumatic controls, and cabling
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical
- Design PCB interfaces, control boards, and automation systems for testing applications
Component Selection & Documentation
- Select electrical and electronic components based on performance, reliability, cost, and availability
- Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering reports, and technical documentation
- Maintain accurate design files and engineering records throughout the project lifecycle
Testing & Validation
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, simulation, and validation of electrical systems
- Utilize diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
- Ensure designs comply with CSA, UL, CE, and other applicable industry standards
- Apply knowledge of power electronics, signal integrity, EMC, and EMI principles to optimize system performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers throughout the design process
- Support on-site installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty service when required
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience in electrical and electronics system design
- Proficiency with CAD/EDA software such as SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, or KiCad
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SolidWorks Electrical
- PCB design and layout experience
- Familiarity with National Instruments (NI) hardware and software
- Knowledge of CAN, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet communication protocols
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
- Experience working with regulatory compliance standards and manufacturing processes
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client installations and technical support

- Primarily office and assembly lab-based
- Collaborative engineering environment with opportunities to work on innovative automation and testing solutions
- Occasional travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, and support
