The Insurance Broker is responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, assessing insurance needs, recommending appropriate coverage, and providing ongoing service. The successful candidate is knowledgeable, customer-focused, and committed to delivering professional advice while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
Duties
- Meet with new and existing clients to assess their insurance needs.
- Recommend and sell personal and/or commercial insurance products that best meet client needs.
- Prepare quotes by comparing coverage and pricing from multiple insurance carriers.
- Explain policy coverage, exclusions, deductibles, and premiums in a clear and understandable manner.
- Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and policy changes.
- Review client policies regularly to ensure coverage remains appropriate.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships through exceptional customer service.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell and upsell additional insurance products.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation in the brokerage management system.
- Stay informed about industry trends, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with insurance companies, underwriters, and internal team members to provide timely solutions.
- Meet individual and team sales, retention, and service goals.
Qualifications
- Valid insurance broker license (RIBO or provincial equivalent, as applicable).
- Previous experience in insurance sales or customer service is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of personal and/or commercial insurance products.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance brokerage management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
