Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable, engaging, and student-focused Economics Teacher to join our high school faculty. The successful candidate will teach senior-level Ontario curriculum courses, including CIA4U – Analysing Current Economic Issues and BBB4M – International Business Fundamentals. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about economics, business, and global issues and is committed to preparing students for post-secondary success.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum.
- Teach CIA4U and BBB4M using a variety of instructional strategies that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, presentations, tests, and examinations.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate academic records.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding student progress.
- Integrate current economic events, global business trends, and technology into classroom instruction.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and extracurricular activities as appropriate.Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Commerce, Finance, Education, or a closely related field (master's degree considered an asset)
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is preferred but not required. Candidates with relevant teaching experience and strong subject matter expertise are encouraged to apply.
- Experience teaching senior secondary students, particularly within the Ontario curriculum, is considered a strong asset.
- Experience teaching Ontario Grade 12 university or university/college preparation courses.
- Familiarity with Ontario curriculum expectations for CIA4U and BBB4M.
- Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, or Canvas).
