We are seeking a hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious General Laborer to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our operations. Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day tasks will vary depending on the project, but core responsibilities include:
- Follow project plans and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines.
- Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Support other site activities as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Earthworks & Excavation Assistance
- Shovel, rake, and move dirt, gravel, and other materials to grade specifications.
- Assist in site preparation and earthmoving activities.
- Assist with installing trench shoring, pipes, and catch basins.
- Signal and spot for heavy equipment operators (excavators, dozers, loaders) to ensure safe digging around live utilities.
Site Maintenance & Safety
- Set up site safety perimeters, including signage, cones, and barricades.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate potential hazards.
- Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment from trucks.
Hydrovac Support
- Assist Hydrovac Operators by handling, connecting, and maneuvering vacuum hoses and high-pressure water wands.
- Dig test holes (potholing) safely to expose underground utilities.
- Ensure the truck and equipment are cleaned, maintained, and properly stowed after jobs.
While we are willing to train the right candidate, the following are highly preferred:
Required:
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, bend, kneel, and stand for long periods in all weather conditions (heat, rain, snow).
- Reliability: A proven track record of showing up on time, every day.
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to various jobsites.
- Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate clearly with the team for safety purposes.
Preferred (Assets):
- Previous experience in construction, landscaping, earthworks, or hydrovac operations.
- Valid safety tickets (e.g. First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, TCP).
- Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment safely and efficiently on construction sites.
