Summit is the exclusive dealer of the Foremost hydrovac line. These trucks include the extensive line of Foremost conventional hydrovacs, as well as the complete line of Rival hydrovacs, trucks designed to transport full debris loads on roadways. We are looking for a Shop Hand in our Bradford location.
The Back Parts Counter is a critical role responsible for providing specialized parts and technical support for hydrovac trucks, vacuum excavation equipment, and related systems. This position serves as the essential link between our Service team and our comprehensive parts inventory.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist technicians in identifying specific hydrovac and truck components, including vacuum systems, water pumps, boilers, and debris tanks
- Use specialized parts catalogs and inventory systems to source components for various hydrovac truck brands and models
- Provide technical guidance on part compatibility, maintenance intervals, and replacement procedures
- Process purchase orders and maintain accurate records of specialized parts
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming hydrovac components and consumables
- Manage inventory levels of high demand hydrovac parts and participate in regular cycle counts
- Build relationships with Service Technicians, look for ways to streamline processes
- Troubleshoot parts-related issues
- Make recommendations on parts inventory based on current parts usage trends
- Stay current on hydrovac technology advances and new component offerings
- Perform daily fluid checks (oil levels, etc.) to ensure equipment readiness
- Conduct regular bin counts and maintain accurate parts inventory
- Coordinate and delegate parts runs to ensure timely pickup of required components
- Prioritize and support service operations with a strong focus on efficiency and turnaround time
- Maintain a service-driven mindset, ensuring both internal teams and customers are supported at a high level
- Pick all required parts based on repair order
- Stage parts in a designated location to ensure technicians have everything needed to begin work efficiently
- Maintain clear communication between service, parts, and technicians to minimize downtime and delays
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in heavy equipment parts, industrial supply, or hydrovac operations preferred
- Knowledge of hydrovac truck systems and components
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, water pumps, vacuum technology, and related industrial equipment
- Problem-solving mindset with ability to make decisions under pressure
- Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
- Strong computer skills with ability to navigate specialized parts lookup systems
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical information clearly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize urgent equipment-down situations
- Basic math skills for processing transactions and inventory management
- Physical ability to lift to 80 pounds and handle hydrovac components
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Experience in hydrovac operations or maintenance
- Background in heavy equipment parts or industrial components
- Knowledge of specific hydrovac truck brands (Rival and Foremost)
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Technical training in related industrial equipment
Work Environment
- Primarily indoor work in a parts counter/warehouse setting
- May require occasional visits to yard or shop areas to inspect components
- Exposure to industrial parts, fluids, and cleaning agents
- Requires occasional lifting of heavy components
- Work schedule may include on-call rotation for emergency parts support
