We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dietitian to join our team for a part-time term position from June 15 – August 15, 2026.
Please note this is a temporary, part-time (0.6) role shared between our Ivey’s Terrace location in Trenton, NS (0.2), Shiretown Nursing Home in Pictou (0.2) and our Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home location in Port Hawkesbury (0.2).
As a Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritional guidance and support to our residents. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about promoting healthy eating habits and improving overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Review physical condition, physician orders, and psychological needs of residents to ensure high standards of nutritional intake
- Research new developments in the field of long-term care as it relates to diet and dietary requirements
- Implement dietary measures with a long-term view of maintaining or improving a patient's quality of life
- Continually assess residents for any changes to their current physical abilities and future changes to their care
- Compare effectiveness of dietary plans against resident's progress notes and modify or alter plans if necessary
- Discuss care plan meetings with the families of patients so that they are included in the necessary programs
- Chart and documents all dietary progress notes, including counselling, diet instructions
- Assess the need for new methods of feeding
- Educate and inform the food services department as necessary regarding diet therapy and nutritional requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be registered with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics
- Excellent ability to manager high stress or highly emotional situations
- Sound judgement and able to execute decisions efficiently.
