Pharmacy Assistant – Full-Time or Part-Time
Kerr Speers Pharmacy is a fast-growing neighborhood pharmacy in Oakville looking for a motivated and highly organized Pharmacy Assistant to join our team on either a full-time or part-time basis.
This position is ideal for someone with strong communication and interpersonal skills who can communicate professionally with patients, pharmacists, prescribers, clinic staff, and other healthcare professionals. The role includes regular coordination with an adjacent clinic, making clear communication, accurate documentation, and timely follow-up particularly important.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prescription and patient data entry
- Assisting with prescription processing and daily dispensary workflow
- Handling patient and clinic-related documentation accurately and confidentially
- Coordinating with the adjacent clinic regarding prescriptions, patient information, documentation, and follow-up
- Communicating professionally with clinic staff, prescribers, patients, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
- Following up on outstanding prescriptions, documentation, and patient-related requests
- Answering telephone calls and communicating clearly with patients and healthcare providers
- Filing and maintaining pharmacy records and documentation
- Ordering medications, supplies, and pharmacy inventory
- Receiving, checking, and organizing incoming orders
- Stocking shelves and maintaining organized product displays
- Monitoring inventory and medication/product expiry dates
- Assisting with third-party insurance billing
- Supporting pharmacists and other pharmacy team members as required
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment
Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, clinic staff, prescribers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to coordinate workflow, prioritize tasks, multitask, and follow up on outstanding matters
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with data entry and patient documentation
- Professional approach to handling confidential patient information
- Previous pharmacy assistant experience in Canada is preferred, but not required
- Experience with Kroll pharmacy software is preferred, but not required
- Prescription data-entry and third-party billing experience are assets
- Quick learner who is willing and able to learn new skills, procedures, and pharmacy systems
- Dependable, responsible, and able to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team member
- Preference will be given to candidates who live in Oakville or nearby communities
