Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the optical practice by assisting with patient care, managing optical products, and ensuring smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in eye care, excellent communication skills, and experience in retail or healthcare environments. Prior knowledge of optical procedures and laboratory experience is a plus, but we are willing to provide training for the right candidate. Responsibilities
- Assist patients with selecting eyewear and lenses, providing exceptional customer service
- Support the optometrists in patient examinations and optical adjustments
- Manage inventory of frames, lenses, and optical supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained
- Prepare eyewear for fitting, including measurements and adjustments as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health records systems
- Educate patients on lens options, frame styles, and proper eyewear care
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as lens edging, mounting, and quality checks (laboratory experience preferred)
- Support retail sales efforts by promoting eyewear products and accessories
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the optical area to meet health and safety standards
Qualifications
- Prior laboratory experience or optical experience is highly desirable
- Experience in retail sales or customer service roles, especially in a healthcare or optical setting
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to patients
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- A proactive attitude with a genuine interest in providing excellent patient care and customer service
- Previous experience with optical equipment or lab procedures is advantageous but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
