O’Brien Fabrications Ltd. is a diversified metal fabrication shop that has been in operation since 1989. We service southwestern Ontario with work primarily completed in Guelph, Kitchener and Cambridge and surrounding areas. We operate in three key areas: Sheet Metal Roofing and Siding, Commercial HVAC, and Custom Welding. Projects range from residential/commercial construction, industrial maintenance, to industrial engineered build and spec projects. We specialize in the misc. metals such as access ladders, mezzanines, canopies, walk overs, ships ladders, custom railings, Mobile welding, and custom repair and maintenance.
Position Overview
We’re currently looking for leader and proven experienced Fitter/Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate has strong fitting experience, can read and interpret fabrication drawings, and produces clean, accurate welds with attention to detail.
We are looking for that leadership experienced individual to be part of our expansion plans.
You’ll be working on a variety of custom projects — stainless, aluminum, and carbon steel — from small components to full assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication and assembly drawings
- Fit and weld components to meet tight tolerances
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on various materials
- Work with plate, sheet, and structural members
- Maintain quality standards and attention to detail throughout fabrication
- Operate shop tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Able to work in the field installing what we build or do onsite welding repairs
- Able to do site measuring, make sketches to be able to build from
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area
Qualifications
- 5–10 years proven experience in fabrication, fitting, and welding
- Proficient in MIG ,TIG, STICK welding (CWB certification an asset)
- Strong blueprint reading and layout skills
- Experience with stainless steel and process equipment is a plus
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work alone if needed
- Positive attitude and pride in workmanship

Pay: $33.53-$42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
