Our Saskatoon office is looking for someone to join our Carinata research and development team on a part time basis as a Research Technician I. This position will report to our Breeding Lead and will assist in greenhouse and seed lab activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead weekend watering responsibilities for our greenhouses and growth chambers.
- Prepare growth rooms for projects including, pot prep, seeding, trimming and staking of plants, bagging and harvest.
- Sample leaf tissue for molecular analysis.
- Clean and organize harvested seed.
- Maintain accurate and organized records.
- Help maintain greenhouses, chambers and storage areas including cleaning and disinfecting.
- Communicate and work together with other team members.
- Communicate regularly with management and team leads.
- Provide assistance to the seed lab as needed.
Qualifications Required:
- Interest in plant care and maintenance
- Working toward or interested in a BSc in plant science, agronomy, or horticulture an asset
- Experience working with canola or other crops in a greenhouse or growth chamber.
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties, including working in hot and humid environments
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
- Proven problem-solving abilities in team and individual settings
- A high level of attention to detail resulting in consistent outcomes
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
