Reporting to and working under the supervision of the Care Manager, the Mental Health Clinician works interdependently with a team of mental health professionals. The Mental Health Clinician is often the first point of contact for the Children, Youth and Families Addiction and Mental Health Program, with services delivered through telephone, virtual, and in-person interactions, including walk-in services. The incumbent has primary responsibility for Intake, Urgent, and Walk-In referrals and requires extensive addiction and mental health knowledge and clinical skills to screen, assess, and triage all requests for service and information. In addition, this role works closely with the Crisis and Stabilization Team (CAST), with an expectation to provide direct support to CAST as needed, including crisis line coverage, group facilitation, single-session interventions, and walk-in support. High expectations exist regarding accessibility, effectiveness, appropriateness of response, and clinical decision-making. Screening, assessment, and triage decisions are based on clinical findings gathered from individuals, families, referring professionals, and collateral sources. The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for ensuring timely, client-centered, and evidence-informed responses to service requests, assisting individuals and families in accessing the most appropriate level of care, and providing brief intervention, consultation, and support through intake, urgent, and walk-in services.
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a master's degree in psychology; a bachelor's degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention; a master's or bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components; a bachelor's degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling; or a bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of a master's degree in psychology; a bachelor's degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention; a master's or bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components; a bachelor's degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling; or a bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing. A minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health and addiction experience, with preference given to community settings. Strong skills with crisis intervention, assessment and relationship building. Experience in providing psychosocial interventions.

Excellent communication and self-management skills. Flexibility, openness and a desire to be a dedicated team player. If registered with the ACSW, preference is given to those with authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions. Connect Care experience an asset.
