Overview
Position: Prep Cook
Salary: $22.00/hr
Hours: Part-time 20-30hrs per week
Join the kitchen team at The Chef's Acre, where farm focused, chef inspired, quality food, and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an experienced Prep Cook who is excited to contribute to a fast-paced kitchen and help us prepare for catered events, special functions, and daily operations.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You enjoy working efficiently under pressure, take pride in producing consistent, high-quality work, and are always willing to jump in and support your teammates when the kitchen gets busy.
Previous experience working as a Prep Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role is required. Candidates should have strong food preparation skills, a solid understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and food items according to recipes and kitchen standards.
- Assist with large-scale food prep for catered events and special orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Support the kitchen team with daily prep and other duties as needed.
- Help ensure the kitchen is fully stocked and ready for service.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen position is required.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic food preparation techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Collaborative, hardworking, and willing to support the team wherever needed.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule of 20–30 hours per week, including occasional evenings or weekends to help with event preparation.
