We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Semi-Independent Living (SIL) Worker to join our team. This position requires flexibility and availability to work days, evenings, every second weekend, and occasional split shifts.
Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is considered an asset; however, we are willing to provide training to the right candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting others.
Responsibilities
The SIL Worker will support individuals with developmental disabilities to live as independently as possible in their own homes and communities. Duties include:
- Assisting with apartment maintenance and household organization
- Supporting budgeting and money management (basic math skills are required)
- Assisting with meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal preparation
- Coordinating and arranging transportation
- Supporting participation in social, recreational, and community activities
- Teaching and encouraging the development of daily living and life skills
- Maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Promoting independence, choice, and community inclusion
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic math and budgeting skills
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional split shifts
- Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities is an asset but not required
