Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Lead who brings a balance of strong technical architecture skills, solid software development delivery experience, and a mentorship style that empowers team members to deliver exceptional results.
Reporting to the Director of Product and Technology, you'll play a key role in delivering new features across our web platform while providing day-to-day technical leadership for a small team of junior developers. You will be responsible for translating product requirements into deliverable work, mentoring developers, maintaining engineering standards, and helping evolve our development processes.
This is a hands-on role, with approximately 70–80% focused on software development and the remainder on technical leadership, code quality, mentoring, and delivery.
$90,000 – $120,000 CAD per annum.

Role and Responsibilities
- Design, build and deliver high-quality full-stack applications using TypeScript, React, Next.js and PostgreSQL.
- Translate business requirements into technical tasks, estimates and development plans, assigning work across the team where appropriate.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews and support for junior developers.
- Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement and regular progress reviews.
- Troubleshoot production issues, improve system reliability and contribute to ongoing architectural and technical improvements.
- Promote a collaborative engineering culture focused on quality, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent commercial experience.
- 5+ years' professional experience developing modern web applications.
- Experience integrating AI-assisted development tools into day-to-day software engineering workflows, using them to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation and overall delivery efficiency.
- Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, React and Next.js.
- Experience mentoring developers through code reviews, technical guidance or team leadership.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies (unit, integration and end-to-end).
- Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a small development team.
