We are seeking a motivated Carpenter Helper to join our growing team in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with carpentry or construction experience who enjoys hands-on work and wants to develop their skills while working alongside an experienced Carpenter on a variety of commercial projects.
The successful candidate will assist with renovations, finishing carpentry, general maintenance, and construction projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. We are looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, adaptable, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Carpenter with commercial projects
- Help with finishing carpentry, including trim, doors, baseboards, and cabinetry
- Assist with general carpentry maintenance and repair work
- Help with deck construction, repairs, and exterior carpentry projects as required
- Assist with framing, drywall, flooring, and other carpentry installations
- Help complete drywall repairs, patching, and installations
- Assist with interior and exterior painting when required
- Help with flooring installations and refurbishment projects
- Load, unload, organize, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to job sites
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials under the direction of the Carpenter
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Meet with clients professionally when required
- Follow all company safety policies and safe work practices
- Work collaboratively with the Carpenter to complete projects on schedule
- Work outdoors and at heights when required
- Perform other general labour and carpentry support duties as assigned
Experience
- Previous experience as a Carpenter Helper, Construction Labourer, or in a similar construction role
- Experience with renovations, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, or general construction
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract
- Ability to lift and carry building materials and equipment
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime as required
- Weekends as needed
